As part of the Alternative Class Program (ACP), the Student Council (SC) of APEC Schools San Pablo conducted a webinar about Mental Health Awareness held via Google Meet, Dec. 16.
The webinar, entitled “Take a Brain Break” was about taking a break from all the stress caused by the problems that every individual is facing today. It aimed to give encouragement and words of wisdom from the Guest Speaker and from the provided activities.
Julius Bragais, a 5-time reigning and a grand finalist of Mr. Q and A segment of ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime was the Guest Speaker for the said webinar. His talk was about boosting self-confidence and self-esteem. He mentioned that in order to boost their self-confidence, they have to know themselves first. Knowing oneself means you can easily make a clear decision, and it will also help us to develop self-love.
He also tackled the problems that students typically encounter such as failure, school works, family problems, lovelife, and many more.
After his talk, the Student Council prepared a question for Mr. Bragais. The question was "How do you overcome problems such as Mental Health and academic matters during this pandemic, and what advice will you give to students experiencing this kind of problem?" which he answered that it is normal for students to have problems like that, and they have to be responsible in their time and schedule as students. They were also encouraged to believe themselves, and take a rest if needed.
The webinar started by introducing the SC Officers. After that, they began their first activity where the participants listened to an encouraging song entitled "Di ka Sayang" which is a song about self-worth. The next activity is called “Acknowledge your Feelings” wherein participants determined if they could relate to or experienced a particular situation flashed on the screen which aimed to inform the participants whether they are mentally stable or if they need to seek help or advice of mental health professionals.
Awarding of a Certificate of Appreciation for the Guest Speaker ended the program. #
