With overflowing confidence and unmatched creativity, Purple Assassins was proclaimed as the Champion of the eCheering Competition as part of Cluster D Unity E-Games and Festival of Talents 2021, March 6.

Incredible cooperation and energetic performance led the team to ascend to the top of the rankings. Their cheering piece is a medley of adaptations of four songs. The performance kicked off to the tune of SpongeBob SquarePants’ theme song melody, followed by Katy Perry’s 2013 hit song “Roar” and a brief tribute to Queen’s classic anthem “We Will Rock You”, and ended with an ode to Filipino rapper Ez Mil’s viral track “Panalo.”

Next in line is Gray Gunners grabbing 1st runner-up and Orange Mages making it at 2nd runner-up, who presented a 1 minute and 30 seconds performance and 2-minute performance, respectively, accompanied with an original tune and melody.

All performances were pre-recorded, which were presented via Zoom and streamed live on Facebook.

Ralph Chester Esler, the Team Leader of the Purple Assassins, narrated that it wasn’t easy to finish their video since they lacked participants at first, but they managed to overcome this with the help of their coaches. Even though some of his teammates experienced technical difficulties, they were able to submit their video on time and with full confidence. His advice to other students who want to participate or just planning to participate in a competition is that they should be confident and enjoy every moment that they will experience before, during, and after the competition. #
