Gray Gunners grab winning spots in both JHS, SHS category of Scrabble contest

Gray Gunners’ Bernice Gabrielle Gadia was declared as the Champion in the JHS edition and Pauline Ysabelle Matutina as 1st runner-up in the SHS edition of the Scrabble Online as part of Cluster D Unity E-Games and Festival of Talents 2021 held via Google Meet, Feb. 20 and 27.

Next to Gadia was Jocela Baldoz of Red Targeman taking 2nd place and Almira Moraleja of Orange Mages making it in 3rd place. It is noteworthy to note that the 1st and 2nd placers are both just Grade 7 students against other representatives who are from higher grade levels.

On the other hand, showcasing a broad knowledge in vocabulary and tactics in word arrangement, the Champion in the SHS edition was Jan Paulo Orit of Black Weapon Masters while Randel Bautista of Red Targeman took 3rd place.

In an interview with the Champions, Orit shared that he had fun and he enjoyed participating in the competition. He also said that he was confident in flaunting his talents and skills, and become prouder of himself after the competition. Meanwhile, Gadia mentioned that being alert and her passion for reading and writing played a big part in her success. She ended the interview with a piece of advice to other students, “Read different literature as it will expand your vocabulary. Include board games in your spare time, because it helps with the imagination, focus, and determination.” #
