Moving on from elementary to high school, I am glad that I became part of APEC Schools this school year as a Grade 7 student and I was so excited about my first week of our online classes. I met new teachers or called as Learning Facilitators (LF) as well as new classmates from different places. This is what my every day looks like.
Here in this school, we are encouraged to speak in English from our presentations to simply answering or asking questions, and even when talking to classmates when we have group activities. I was shocked at first especially because all my LFs are speaking in English and I felt nervous about that because I’m not that fluent in English, but our LFs guide us to speak it properly and confidently.
We only have two subjects per day, one in the morning and another one in the afternoon. Before LFs give us activities, we first have a video conference wherein they explain first what to do. Sometimes, it’s hard for me to do the activities because I just don't know what to do or I don’t understand what I’m doing. In fact, I felt like I was crying in the past few days but gradually I am getting better and better thanks to the guidance and support of my LFs. Then, we have another video conference to discuss what we learned.
As a student, my online learning experience has been even busier compared to attending regular classes. However, what I like about learning online is that I'm not as pressured as I’m in regular classes because I can learn at the comfort of my home, at my own pace. On the other hand, what I don't like about online learning is that it can take me up to a whole school day to finish two activities at most. Yet, at least in this school, we are not given assignments. Compared to my experience as a student in a physical classroom, online learning is definitely harder because I and maybe other students are so used to working with other students. Fortunately, at least we still have group activities so we still get to talk and collaborate with my classmates.
Now, I’m already comfortable with my LFs and my classmates. I learn little by little now and I'm so happy about that. I know someday I'll become successful with the help of my LFs here at APEC Schools. #
